DEATH IS GOING TO COME SOONER
Once the Holy Prophet ﷺ was going somewhere. He saw a Sahabi
repairing his hut. When he got near he asked, “What are you doing?” The sahabi
said, “My hut had become damaged. I am repairing it.” The Holy Prophet ﷺ didn’t tell him not
to do it, he just said,
"ما
اری الامر الّا اعجل من ذلک"
that the time of death is going to come even sooner than
that, meaning that if the person is mindful of the fact that his death can at
any time then he doesn’t care that his hut has been damaged. The point was that
while repairing your hut and your home you should not start thinking that this
is my permanent home, and I have to live here forever. Always be mindful that
this home is a temporary abode and our permanent home will be in the next life.
Just treat this world as stop on the journey and just try to attain enough
material wealth that is necessary to sustain you in this temporary home.
