For men there is a share in what the parents and the nearest of kin have left. And for women there is a share in what the parents and the nearest of kin have left, be it small or large__a determined share.

INTERPRETATION:
{7} In the days of Jahiliyah (ignorance)
women did not receive anything in inheritance. Some incidents came to light in
front of the Holy Prophet ﷺwhen after a man’s death who had left a wife and
minor children behind, his bothers took control of all of his inheritance. His
wife was deprived of her share being a woman while the children were not given anything
because they were minors. This verse was revealed on that occasion and it made
clear that women cannot be deprived of inheritance. Further on, in the para
starting from verse 11 Allah Ta’alah has specified the shares of all male and
female relatives in inheritance.
