Have you not seen those who claim sanctity for themselves? In fact, Allah sanctifies whom He wills, and they shall not be wronged even to the measure of a thread of a date-stone {36}.

See how they fabricate a lie against Allah, and it is enough to be an open sin.
INTERPRETATION:
{36} It means that Allah Ta’alah grants purity and sanctity to those who seek it through their voluntary acts. The people who do not get purity and sanctity have deprived themselves of these through their own voluntary deeds. If Allah Ta’alah doesn’t grant them sanctity it is not being unjust to them, as they have deprived themselves of achieving that status through their own actions.
