TREAT YOUR RELATIVES WELL: 3

This Hadith is actually an interpretation of all those verses of the Holy Quran in which Allah Ta’alah has commanded us to mind the rights of our relatives, and to treat them well. At the time of delivering the Khutbah of Nikah the Holy Prophet used to recite this verse of the Quran Karim:

وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ الَّذِىۡ تَسَآءَلُوۡنَ بِهٖ وَالۡاَرۡحَامَ (٤:١)
“…Fear Allah in whose name you ask each other (for your rights), and fear (the violation of the rights of) the womb-relations…” (4:1)

It means that when we ask others for our rights we invoke Allah’s name that for Allah’s sake please give me my rights. Similarly, we should also fear Allah that we do not violate the rights of any of our relatives, and end up having to answer for it on the Day of Judgment. The Holy Quran and Ahadith of the Holy Prophet are full of injunctions related to discharging the rights of our relatives properly.
