HATE
THE ACT, NOT THE PERSON
One
important point to remember is that when one becomes angry with someone for
Allah’s sake, the anger is not directed towards that person, it is towards his
beliefs and actions. The hatred should be towards the kufr (disbelief), not the
disbeliever, it should be with the sin, not the sinner. If a person is involved
in sins or kufr, he is like a person who has been afflicted by an illness, the
illness of sin or kufr. We never resent a sick person, we resent his illness.
If people started hating sick people who will look after them? That is why if
the sinner gives up his sins, there should be no remaining resentment, no
anger, because the anger wasn’t inter-personal.
