THE
CORRECT INTENTION BEHIND GIVING GIFTS
On
the other hand, if a person thinks that someone in my family is getting
married, and I want to give them a gift so that they will be pleased and I will
share their happiness, and has no intention of earning praise for giving that
gift, or getting a gift from that person in return, then such a gift will earn
Thawab (eternal reward) for that person. If the intention behind giving a gift is
solely to fulfil the rights of one’s relatives, and to please Allah Ta’alah,
then such gifts count as Silah Rehmi (صلہ رحمی)
and are a source of great reward.
